Start Here
Start by following the main story through the Iron Road, Sky Garden Tower and Secret Flower Field. After the story bosses, clean up the main Steam Gardens paths with Uproot and Sherm captures. Save Deep Woods, seed pots, races, outfit/NPC moons and Moon Rock moons for later so you can move through the kingdom in fewer loops.
Wooded Kingdom Power Moon Guide: All 76 Moons
Use this as a route checklist. Every card gives the core location, the required action and a practical tip for finding the moon without turning the kingdom into a maze.
Road to Sky Garden
Follow the Iron Road through the lower Steam Gardens, past the Sphinx entrance puzzle, and capture the Uproot at the base of the Sky Garden Tower. Use it to stretch through the narrow wall slits and ride the elevator shaft upward. Jump on the Big Poison Piranha Plant's head three times, dodging its ground slam between each hit. The moon drops automatically as a mandatory story reward.
Flower Thieves of Sky Garden
At the top of Sky Garden Tower, activate the P Switch to open the flower road and sprint across immediately, because it collapses quickly. In the Spewart boss fight throw Cappy to knock his hat off, then jump on his head, repeating for three hits total. After each hit he floods more of the arena with purple goop, so keep to the flower platforms and never stand still. Defeating him earns a Multi Moon worth three.
Path to the Secret Flower Field
Capture a Sherm along the Iron Road and blast through the rock walls to open the forward path. Further along, throw Cappy at each of the four glowing emblems on the spinning obstacle wheel to destroy them and unlock the beanstalk route upward. The moon drops as a story reward once the path to the Secret Flower Field is fully cleared.
Defend the Secret Flower Field!
Capture the Uproot in the Secret Flower Field and stretch beneath each of Torkdrift's three brick cubes to smash the blue orbs on its roots. After each hit Torkdrift rises higher and fires shockwaves faster, but the ring always has one safe gap, so keep moving and never stop. Three successful hits defeats it and earns a Multi Moon worth three.
Behind the Rock Wall
At the Forest Charging Station checkpoint, capture the Sherm parked beside the large rock wall. Blast only the upper-left section, where the moon sits in the alcove behind that corner, separate from the 2D side-scrolling section the wall also hides. Destroying too much of the wall will not cost you the moon, but the upper-left is the quickest path.
Back Way Up the Mountain
At the Iron Mountain Path Station 8 checkpoint, drop down to the low platform below and capture the Uproot waiting there. Stretch into the corner to smash the Rock Blocks hiding a secret 8-bit pipe entrance. Complete the short 2D side-scrolling section, taking the tight jumps slowly, and grab the moon at the far end.
Rolling Rock in the Woods
Look for a large round rock sitting between four bushes, directly north of the Odyssey landing site. Throw Cappy at it or Ground Pound on top repeatedly to roll it into the hollow in the ground. The moon pops out once the rock settles into place. The four bushes are the landmark, so scan the grassy area just beyond the ship if you cannot spot it right away.
Caught Hopping in the Forest!
A purple rabbit carrying the moon hops around the lower Steam Gardens between the Odyssey and the Forest Charging Station. It bolts the moment you get close, so throw Cappy ahead of its path rather than chasing it head-on. After a few near-misses the rabbit tires and pauses, and that is your window to grab it.
Thanks for the Charge!
Head to the Forest Charging Station and stand in front of the rightmost charging pod. Look for a faint yellow glow on the ground directly in front of it, then Ground Pound that exact spot to release the moon. If the glow is hard to see, clear the nearby enemies first so the area is quiet.
Atop a Tall Tree
Find the Uproot at the base of the kingdom’s tallest tree in the south-east corner of the Steam Gardens. Capture it and stretch upward repeatedly, resting on the small ledges along the trunk to regain height between stretches. A cracked nut sits at the very top, so Ground Pound it to crack it open and collect the moon inside.
Tucked Away Inside a Tunnel
Look for the Uproot beside the tall tree in the south-eastern corner of the kingdom and capture it. Carry it back to the river in the kingdom’s opening area, then head upstream until you reach a nut set high on the tunnel wall. Stretch up with the Uproot to smash the nut and release the Power Moon.
Over the Cliff’s Edge
Near the Summit Path checkpoint, look for a hidden ledge tucked behind the cliff wall. Follow it around the edge to reach a nut, then destroy the nut to claim the Power Moon.
The Nut ‘Round the Corner
Just before the Iron Road Entrance checkpoint, look for a hidden iron walkway near Talkatoo. Follow this path around the corner to find a nut, and break it open to reveal the Power Moon.
Climb the Cliff to Get the Nut
From the start of the kingdom, find the river and follow it upstream. At the top end you will reach a cave with a lever and a door. Throw Cappy at the lever to open the door, which leads to a hidden cliffside with an Uproot. Capture the Uproot, climb the cliffside with it, and smash the hidden nut to earn the Power Moon.
The Nut in the Red Maze
While moving through the Iron Road, watch the red maze walls for a nut tucked into one of the corners. Break the nut to collect the Power Moon.
The Nut at the Dead End
From the Road to Sky Garden Power Moon spot, look for a hidden iron path running underneath it. Follow the path to its dead end to find a nut, then destroy the nut to claim a secret Power Moon.
Cracked Nut on a Crumbling Tower
Between the Iron Road Halfway Point and the Sky Garden Tower, look for a side path made of collapsing platforms. Cross the platforms quickly before they fall and reach the end to find a nut. Destroy the nut to earn the Power Moon.
The Nut That Grew on the Tall Fence
Near the Iron Mountain Path Station 8 checkpoint, cross the nearby iron wall to reach a hidden nut. Break the nut to claim the Power Moon.
Fire in the Cave
From the Iron Road Entrance checkpoint, slip through the gap in the iron bars on the left side, where a scarecrow stands. Throw Cappy at the scarecrow to open the nearby door and reach the cave behind it. Defeat the Fire Bro inside to earn the Power Moon.
Hey Out There, Captain Toad!
From the Observation Deck, capture Glydon and glide east to a distant island. Land there to find Captain Toad, who hands you a Power Moon.
Love in the Forest Ruins
Near the Forest Charging Station, look for a field of Goombas. Capture one Goomba and stack the rest into a Goomba tower, then carry the tower to Goombette on the high platform nearby. Reach her with a tall enough stack and she will give you a Power Moon.
Inside a Rock in the Forest
Near the Summit Path checkpoint, capture the Sherm on the lower cliff platform. Take it back toward the Odyssey, where a cracked dirt rock sits in the open. Blast the rock apart with the Sherm to reveal the Power Moon.
Shopping in Steam Gardens
This Power Moon is sold at the Crazy Cap shop in Steam Gardens for 100 coins. Gather coins from nearby blocks and enemies if you are short, then buy it from the shop menu.
Nut Planted in the Tower
Inside the Sky Garden Tower, look for a nut planted on the central column. Break the nut to receive the Power Moon.
Stretching Your Legs
Inside the Sky Garden Tower, capture an Uproot and carry it to the central column. Stretch upward from the top of the column to reach the Power Moon floating high above.
Spinning-Platforms Treasure
Near the Secret Flower Field, look off the eastern cliff edge to spot hidden iron platforms below. Drop down to them and cross the rotating platforms to reach a Warp Pipe, which leads to a secret room with the Power Moon.
Make the Secret Flower Field Bloom
Inside the Secret Flower Field, find the three groups of unbloomed flowers. Throw Cappy at all three groups to bloom them within the short time limit before they close again. Bloom all three and the Power Moon appears.
Rolling Rock in the Deep Woods
At the southern end of the Deep Woods, look for a large rock you can break. Smash it apart to reveal the Power Moon inside.
Glowing in the Deep Woods
In the Deep Woods, find the scarecrow near the river pool. Throw Cappy at the scarecrow to make a Power Moon appear nearby for a short time, then grab it before it vanishes.
Past the Peculiar Pipes
Along the eastern wall of the Deep Woods, look for a Warp Pipe that leads to a small pipe maze. Work your way through the maze to reach the Power Moon.
By the Babbling Brook in the Deep Woods
In the Deep Woods, find the T-Rex roaming the area. Lure it to charge into a solid wall so it knocks itself out, then capture it. Take the T-Rex to the north-western corner of the Deep Woods, to the left of the river’s source, and smash the large rock there. Ground Pound the glowing spot it reveals to bring out the Power Moon.
The Hard Rock in Deep Woods
Capture the T-Rex in the Deep Woods by luring it into a wall to knock it out. Carry it to the south-eastern corner, to the right of the river’s end, and smash the large rock there. Ground Pound the glowing spot it leaves behind to reveal the Power Moon.
A Treasure Made of Coins
In the Deep Woods, find the Coin Coffer hiding on a small hill and capture it. Take it to the river pool, where a small sprout sits surrounded by coins. Spit 500 coins into the sprout to make it bloom into a flower that gives you a Power Moon.
Beneath the Roots of a Moving Tree
Along the eastern wall of the Deep Woods, find a small pine tree you can capture. Move the tree aside to uncover a glowing spot on the ground, then Ground Pound it to reveal the Power Moon.
Deep Woods Treasure Trap
Near the southern end of the Deep Woods, find a Warp Pipe growing out of a large tree. Enter it to reach a room with three treasure chests. Open them in the correct order (center, left, right) to earn the Power Moon.
Exploring for Treasure
At the northern end of the Deep Woods, near the river’s source, a Steam Gardener guards a locked door. To enter you must wear both the Explorer Hat and the Explorer Outfit from Crazy Cap. Inside, open the treasure chest in the center of the room to claim the Power Moon.
Wooded Kingdom Timer Challenge 1
Next to the Iron Road Halfway Point checkpoint, find the scarecrow. Throw Cappy onto it to briefly reveal a set of poles with a Power Moon above them. Swing up the poles quickly and grab the Moon before the timer runs out.
Wooded Kingdom Timer Challenge 2
At the Forest Charging Station, find the scarecrow on the left-most charging pod. Throw Cappy onto it to briefly reveal a set of platforms with a Power Moon above them. Climb the platforms quickly and grab the Moon before it disappears.
Flooding Pipeway
Near the Iron Road Entrance, find the pool of water with a submerged Warp Pipe. Enter the pipe and make your way to the end of the flooded passage to claim the Power Moon.
Flood Pipeway Ceiling Secret
Inside the same flooded passage as the Flooding Pipeway Moon, look up for an opening in the ceiling. Swim up through it to reach a hidden alcove holding the Power Moon.
Wandering in the Fog
Near the Forest Charging Station, you can find a Mini Rocket on an iron platform. Mario should capture the rocket to be taken to a secret area covered in fog, where he must find and collect five Moon Shards. If he can collect them all, he will receive a Power Moon.
Nut Hidden in the Fog
In the area with the "Wandering in the Fog" Power Moon, you can find a nut hidden behind an iron platform on the northern side of the area. If Mario destroys this nut, he will receive a secret Power Moon.
Flower Road Run
From the Summit Path checkpoint, you should head to the back side of the large sloped ramp, where a hidden door can be found. Capture or move with Mario as needed to enter this door and then reach the end of the secret area within in order to receive a Power Moon.
Flower Road Reach
In the area with the "Flower Road Run" Power Moon, you must capture a Goomba and then use it to create a Goomba Tower. This will allow Mario to reach the hidden Power Moon located on a high iron platform that he could otherwise not reach.
Elevator Escalation
From the Summit Path checkpoint, locate the hidden door at the top-right side of the large sloped ramp. Inside the red mechanical room, capture the Sherm and ride the elevators upward, blasting the targets and enemies blocking the way. Clear a path to the top to claim the Power Moon.
Elevator Blind Spot
In the area with the "Elevator Escalation" Power Moon, you must capture a Sherm at the start of the area and then use it to shoot and destroy a hidden rock located on the back wall. This will reward Mario with a Power Moon.
Walking on Clouds
Near the Secret Flower Field Entrance, you can find a Steam Gardener that will give a seed once activated. Capture or move with Mario as needed to then carry this seed to the large seed pot on the Observation Deck. This will take him to a secret area in the clouds. If you reach the end of this area, you will receive a Power Moon.
Above the Clouds
In the area with the "Walking on Clouds" Power Moon, you must capture an Uproot at the start of the area and use it to reach a hidden Power Moon located high above the platform in the center of the area.
Secret Path to the Steam Gardens!
This Power Moon can be found inside the Iron Cage. To reach it, you must travel through a painting located in a different kingdom:
If you visit the Wooded Kingdom before the Lake Kingdom and visit the Snow Kingdom after the Seaside Kingdom, then the painting can be found on a high cliff ledge at the north end of the starting area in the Snow Kingdom.
If you visit the Wooded Kingdom before the Lake Kingdom and visit the Seaside Kingdom after the Snow Kingdom, then the painting can be found inside the Crystal Palace at the center of the Seaside Kingdom.
If you visit the Wooded Kingdom after the Lake Kingdom, then the painting can be found on a ledge hidden directly behind the Odyssey in the Metro Kingdom.
Found with Wooded Kingdom Art
Near the Odyssey, you should look for a picture of the Koopa Troopa hosting the Koopa Trace-Walking mini-game in the Sand Kingdom, along with two bushes north of his location. If you then return to the Sand Kingdom, locate these two bushes and ground pound next to them, you will be rewarded with a hidden Power Moon.
Swing Around Secret Flower Field
On the west side on top of the Secret Flower Field gate, Mario can find a golden rod where he can descend to a crumbling walkway in which he must then Long Jump to the red pole ahead. Mario will have to jump to and from a series of poles until he lands on a set of gray Brick Blocks with a Key and P Switch on them. The key will unveil the Power Moon on the east side of the gate, and the P switch activates a flower road that leads Mario directly to the Power Moon.
Jammin' in the Wooded Kingdom
By the stream above the waterfall located southeast of the kingdom, you can find a Jammin' Toad. Should Mario talk to the Toad, he will request that you play a specific piece of music related to "sky-high coins aplenty". The Toad will reward Mario with a Power Moon if you select the "Above the Clouds" (#75) theme from the Music List.
Wooded Kingdom Regular Cup
Go to the Forest Charging Station, you can find a Koopa Troopa hosting the Koopa Freerunning mini-game. Capture or move with Mario as needed to enter the race and then reach the finish line in first place to be awarded a Power Moon.
Peach in the Wooded Kingdom
At the Observation Deck, you will find Princess Peach on her post-game travels. Talk to her and she will reward Mario with a Power Moon.
High Up in the Cave
This Power Moon sits high inside the small cave that connects the woods to the Steam Gardens proper. Because of its height, you can capture an Uproot and stretch up toward it, capture a Fire Bro and jump as one, or use an advanced jump such as a Ground Pound Jump or Dive Jump to reach it.
Lost in the Tall Trees
There is a tall pine tree in the eastern woods with a wooden platform attached, and a wooden crate on said platform. Mario can either head to the Observation Deck, capture Glydon, and release capture, then ground pound the crate to release the Power Moon, which lands over to the golden rod nearby the Summit Path, or capture a Sherm below the Summit Path and destroy the crate with a Sherm.
Looking Down on the Goombas
This moon is inside a nut on top of the tall iron wall nearby where Goombette can be found. It can only be reached by capturing Glydon and gliding west to the nut. Once you land on it, break the nut open to obtain the Power Moon.
High Up on a Rock Wall
On the Iron Road, there is a nut high above the trio of gray brick blocks nearby the red iron maze. Capture an Uproot and stretch up to the brick blocks, then stretch to the nut to open it and release the Power Moon.
The Nut in the Robot Storeroom
Inside the storeroom with the off-duty Steam Gardeners, there is a nut above both the entrance and two Volbonan tourists. Mario can reach it by stretching toward it as an Uproot. Opening the nut unveils the Power Moon.
Above the Iron Mountain Path
West of the Iron Mountain Path, Station 8 checkpoint, there is a small cliff. Traveling north from there across a brittle iron pathway leads to another cliff with a P switch, which when activated, reveals a flower road leading to the Sky Garden Tower. On the way there, the flower path will lead Mario directly to the Power Moon, high above the start of the Iron Road.
The Nut Under the Observation Deck
Underneath the northeast corner of the Observation Deck, there is a nut so high up on the wall, that a fully stretched Uproot alone can't reach it. As an Uproot, find the row of four Hidden Blocks against the wall, then stretch from those blocks up to the nut where the Power Moon lies.
Bird Traveling the Forest
The bluebird holding this Power Moon flies a circuit around the Iron Road, Sky Garden Tower, and the Forest Charging Station. Find a spot where the bird passes close to a ledge, then throw Cappy at it to reveal the Power Moon.
Invader in the Sky Garden
Defeat the Yoofoe, the flying saucer hovering above the Sky Garden Tower, to obtain this Power Moon. Stack Goombas or use a nearby capture to reach it and knock it down.
Hot, Hot, Hot from the Campfire
Nearby the lake where Talkatoo is found, a Volbonan tourist set up some firewood but can't start a fire. Capture a Fire Bro, then return to the firewood to light the Volbonan's campfire. A Power Moon appears once the firewood is lit.
Wooded Kingdom Timer Challenge 3
West of the Iron Mountain Path, Station 8 checkpoint, there is a small cliff with a scarecrow. Throwing Cappy on it temporarily reveals an obstacle course along the wall heading west. The path consists of two moving lifts and two bars to swing on. Reach the end of the course and grab the Power Moon before time runs out.
Moon Shards in the Forest
Five Moon Shards are scattered throughout the red iron maze in the Iron Road. Collecting all five reveals the Power Moon right next to the Iron Road: Halfway Point checkpoint flag.
Taking Notes: On Top of the Wall
On top the southeast portion of the natural wall surrounding the southern forest, a rainbow treble clef can be found. Touching it reveals a very long trail of notes leading all the way back to the where the Odyssey lands in this kingdom. Due to the tight time limit, roll along the trail to move faster, but be careful as the path narrows near the end where you could fall off course. The Power Moon appears near exactly where the last note is, after Mario has collected all the notes.
Taking Notes: Stretching
Along the northern wall below the Iron Cage, there is another rainbow treble clef. The set of notes revealed vaguely form a "V" shape, and most notes are best reached by stretching upward as an Uproot. The Power Moon revealed also has a high altitude that can best be reached by an Uproot.
Wooded Kingdom Master Cup
At the Forest Charging Station, talk to the Koopa Troopa hosting Koopa Freerunning and select the Master Cup, the harder version of the race. Finish in first place to be awarded the Power Moon.
I Met an Uproot!
On the northernmost tower of the region, you can find the Bonneter biologist who wants to see an Uproot up close for research purposes. Capture an Uproot, then travel to where the Bonneter awaits. Showing him the Uproot rewards Mario with a Power Moon.
Invisible Road: Danger!
To the left of the "Path to the Secret Flower Field" Power Moon, you can find a Moon Pipe which leads to a bonus area. In this bonus area, walk across an invisible pathway while avoiding the Poison Piranha Plants. At the end, defeat the three Big Poison Piranha Plants to unlock the Power Moon.
Invisible Road: Hidden Room
In the area with the "Invisible Road: Danger!" Power Moon, you must go to the part with the invisible rotating platform and find a hidden invisible platform with a small alcove. Inside this alcove is a treasure chest containing the Power Moon.
Herding Sheep Above the Forest Fog
Near the Forest Charging Station in the area with the Goombas, you can find a Moon Pipe which leads to a bonus area. In this bonus area, lead a sheep through a short series of obstacles to the circular pen, reached by climbing a pole. Pen the sheep successfully and Mario is rewarded with a Power Moon.
Herding Sheep on the Iron Bridge
In the area with the "Herding Sheep Above the Forest Fog" Power Moon, you can find a Warp Pipe in a hidden alcove near the sheep's pen which will take Mario to an area with another sheep and a P Switch. Hit the P Switch, then quickly lead the sheep to the same pen before the P Switch's effect wears off. Do it in time and Mario is rewarded with another Power Moon.
Down and Back Breakdown Road
Near the Iron Road: Entrance, you can find a Moon Pipe on a wall which leads to a bonus area. In this bonus area, run across the many breakable blocks, which the Bullet Bills found here can smash open. At the end, collect the key and head back to where you started to claim the unlocked Power Moon. Even in Assist Mode, Mario loses 10 coins and a life if he falls into the bottomless pit.
Below Breakdown Road
In the area with the "Down and Back Breakdown Road" Power Moon, get to the end of the area and drop down to the lower level. Capture the Banzai Bill found there and fly it back to the start into a wall of breakable blocks where the Power Moon is hidden.
