Resynced New Content
Dark Animus quests and Data Fragments are two connected but different systems. The four Dark Animus quests are permanent world objectives completed in a fixed order. Data Fragments come mainly from rotating anomalies and are spent on Animus Projects accessed through the rift in the Jackdaw’s captain cabin.
All four Dark Animus quest locations
Great Inagua — (825, 429)
Available after Sequence 4. Go to the southern point of the island and complete the first corrupted encounter. This establishes the chain; later objectives will not behave correctly if you skip ahead.
North of Nassau — (604, 784)
Visit the small island north of Nassau’s port after Sequence 8 and the Blackbeard story event. Track the quest from the map before landing.
Sacrifice Island — (14, 559)
Available after Sequence 11. Search the northwestern tip of Sacrifice Island and follow the corrupted objective through to completion.
East of Misteriosa — (363, 176)
Post-Epilogue. Sail to the island east of Misteriosa and northeast of Fort Serranilla. Completing this final step awards the Dark Animus Corsair pistol swords.
How Data Fragments work

Best order for the Animus rewards
- Activate Eye in the Dark first if you want the Black Flag-themed Corsair rewards.
- Clear every anomaly that appears while you are already sailing through that region.
- Do not wait at an empty location: anomalies rotate, so move to story or collectible cleanup and check back later.
- Finish the four permanent Dark Animus quests in order; they are not the same as rotating anomalies.
- Inspect your project track before spending a large fragment balance.
