The Dilettante trophy in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced asks you to fill Edward’s Great Inagua manor with an enormous collection: 41 Art Pieces, 9 Paintings, 20 Ship Models, 11 Portraits, 18 Swords and 12 Pistols. This guide turns that long checklist into one efficient route, with special attention on the 19 random Fleet Art Pieces that control the grind.

What Dilettante Requires

You do not need every collectible in every category, but you do need every Art Piece, Ship Model and Portrait. Owning an item is not enough: return to the manor and place it in its display slot.

Fastest Dilettante Route

Start the time-gated work early, then let normal story and trophy cleanup supply most of the fixed items.

  1. Unlock Fleet Planning. Reach Sequence 4, Mission 1, renovate Great Inagua when possible, and begin opening ship berths.
  2. Capture five Brigs. Keep healthy Brigs for Piracy missions and use conquered forts to make regional sailing safer.
  3. Run five regional Piracy missions at once. Check Southwest, Northeast, Northwest, West and Southeast for missions showing the small Art Piece icon with a value of 1.
  4. Continue the story while Fleet timers run. Collect portraits, defeat each standard ship class, raid warehouses and pick up nearby world Art Pieces along the route.
  5. Finish the fixed collection after Sequence 11. Clear late-access locations, legendary encounters and the eight-part A World Without Gold questline.
  6. Buy only what remains. Purchase the six General Store Art Pieces, then fill the Sword and Pistol counts after your important Jackdaw upgrades are paid for.
  7. Place everything in Great Inagua. Walk through every manor room and interact with each shelf, wall, rack and display prompt until no required slot remains empty.

19 Fleet Art Pieces: The Main Grind

These Art Pieces come from Brig Piracy missions in Kenway’s Fleet. Mission rewards rotate, so the final few pieces can take much longer than the first batch.

Set Up an Efficient Fleet

  • Capture five Brigs so you can send one into each regional Piracy pool at the same time.
  • Take healthier Brigs from the tougher southern waters to reduce repair downtime.
  • Conquer at least one fort per region and renovate Great Inagua to improve your Fleet setup and available berths.
  • Use spare Schooners for money missions. Frigates help with warehouse cooldowns, while a Man o’ War can reduce regional risk.
  • Fleet mission time advances in real time, but it does not advance while you sit in menus or on the map.

How to Reroll the Mission List

  1. Wait until a Fleet mission report is ready, but do not accept the completed report yet.
  2. Make a manual save before accepting it.
  3. Accept the report and inspect the newly generated Brig Piracy missions.
  4. If no new Art Piece reward appears, reload the manual save and accept the report again.
  5. Repeat until the desired reward appears, then save again after starting or completing it.

9 Paintings

Dilettante needs any 9 of the 12 available Paintings. The cleanest method is to raid the nine warehouses below; each awards its Painting on the first successful raid.

If one warehouse is slowing you down, a merchant Painting can replace it. For example, Der Liederliche Student is sold by the unmarked merchant at (550, 638).

20 Ship Models

Use the Spyglass to identify standard ship classes before attacking. Defeat and board each regular type where possible, then finish the story, legendary encounters and special quest model.

  • Story models: Jackdaw, Nosso Senhor da Compreensao, The Revenge, El Dorado and Queen Anne’s Revenge.
  • Spanish ships: Cutter, Schooner, Brig, Frigate and Man o’ War.
  • English ships: Cutter, Schooner, Brig, Frigate and Man o’ War.
  • Legendary ships: El Impoluto, HMS Prince, La Dama Negra and Brothers in Arms. The paired battle shares one model.
  • Special quest: HMS Ipswich, awarded for completing all eight A World Without Gold quests after Sequence 11, Mission 3.

Models are easy to overlook because several arrive automatically. Check the Great Inagua shelves before hunting a ship type you may already own.

11 Portrait Locations

All 11 Portraits are required. Several are tied to story or character quests, while the rest are fixed pickups in named locations.

18 Swords and 12 Pistols

You only need enough weapons to fill the manor displays. None are missable, so collect free story and exploration rewards first and buy the cheapest missing entries at the end.

  • Check the manor racks before spending money; only empty display slots matter.
  • Prioritize required Jackdaw upgrades and the six Art Pieces before buying expensive weapons.
  • Standard store Swords are the larger expense, while the required Pistol count is cheaper to finish.
  • DLC Swords and Pistols can fill valid display slots, but no DLC is required for the trophy.
  • If a new purchase does not seem to count, return to Great Inagua and interact with its display prompt.

Final Manor Placement Checklist

The trophy checks the decorated manor, not only your inventory. Make one careful room-by-room pass after all collection totals are complete.

  • Place all 41 Art Pieces in their cabinet, shelf and table displays.
  • Fill 9 Painting positions on the manor walls.
  • Place all 20 Ship Models on the model shelves.
  • Place all 11 Portraits in their frames.
  • Fill 18 Sword positions on the weapon racks.
  • Fill 12 Pistol positions on the weapon racks.

When a display menu opens, look for the placement state rather than assuming the item was added automatically. If Dilettante does not unlock, revisit every room and search for one remaining interaction prompt.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Starting the Fleet grind late: begin as soon as Fleet Planning unlocks and keep timers running during the story.
  • Checking Trade missions for the 19 random pieces: the required random set is tied to named Brig Piracy missions.
  • Buying every Painting: only 9 of 12 are required.
  • Buying weapons too early: free rewards and DLC items may already cover many display slots.
  • Owning without placing: every required object must appear in its Great Inagua display.
  • Relying on one autosave: make a manual save before accepting a completed Fleet report when rerolling rewards.
