Reaching Star Road
- ✓Donut Secret House · Entrance
Enter Star Road via Donut Secret House
- Clear the Donut Plains 1 secret exit. Use a Cape Feather to fly up to the hidden upper route where the Key and Keyhole sit, which opens Donut Secret 1.
- Clear the Donut Secret 1 secret exit. In this underwater stage, carry the Key to the hidden Keyhole instead of the normal goal to open Donut Secret House.
- In Donut Secret House, climb the Beanstalk to the upper Blue Door and defeat the Big Boo. This secret exit reveals the Star Road and drops you at Star World 1.

Star World 1 Secret Exit
The route below is accurate and cross-checked against the Super Mario Wiki. A gameplay screenshot for this step is still pending and will be added soon.
- Play to the columns of turning blocks on the right side of the level.
- Spin Jump straight down the right-most column until you drop onto the hidden platform holding both the Key and the Keyhole.
- Place the Key to open Star World 2 and reveal the Vanilla Dome warp on the overworld.
Star World 2 Secret Exit
- This is the underwater level. Swim up through it toward the end.
- Instead of entering the pipe at the top, swim underneath it and keep going to reach the Key and Keyhole. Do not sink too far below the pipe or you lose a life.
- Place the Key to open Star World 3 and reveal the Twin Bridges warp.
Star World 3 Secret Exit
- Hit Lakitu with a Grab Block or a fireball and steal his Cloud.
- Ride the Cloud up through the gap in the blocks and float left to the hidden ? Block that holds the Key. Caped players can simply fly up through the same gap.
- Carry the Key back to the right and drop it in the Keyhole to open Star World 4 and reveal the Forest of Illusion warp.
Star World 4 Secret Exit
- Bring the Red and Green Switch Palace blocks online first, since they build the platform you need near the pipes.
- Hit the ? Block next to the Keyhole with a Shell or a cape to release the Key. Without the switches you can float back under the green platform or have Yoshi eat a Blue Shell to reach the spot.
- Place the Key to open Star World 5 and reveal the Valley of Bowser warp.
Star World 5 Secret Exit to Special World
- The easiest method is a Cape Feather: get a running start off the Used Blocks, fly up, and land on the trail of colored ! Blocks that leads to the Key and Keyhole.
- With all four Switch Palaces active you can instead trigger the Control Coin, hold right, hit the P Switch, and Spin Jump into the third Rotating Block to grow a Beanstalk up to the ! Blocks.
- Take the secret exit to open Special World and Gnarly. The normal exit only loops back to Star World 1.
Special World
- ✓Gnarly to Funky · Eight Levels
- ✓Autumn Overworld · Reward
Special World: Gnarly to Funky
- Star World 5’s secret exit opens the Special Zone, starting with Gnarly.
- Clear all eight levels in order: Gnarly, Tubular, Way Cool, Awesome, Groovy, Mondo, Outrageous and Funky. Each has a single exit and counts toward the 96-exit total.
- Tubular is the difficulty spike, built around P-Balloon control, so keep a cape or Yoshi handy for the toughest stages.

The Autumn Overworld
Clearing Funky, the eighth level, changes your save permanently. The overworld shifts from spring to autumn: greens turn orange and brown and the water turns teal. Several enemies are redrawn too, with Koopa Troopas wearing Mario masks, Piranha Plants becoming pumpkin plants, and Bullet Bills turning into Pidgit Bills.

How do you reach the secret exit in Star World 5?
The simplest way is to fly with a Cape Feather off the Used Blocks and land on the trail of ! Blocks that leads to the Key and Keyhole. No. You can reach and beat Bowser without it. Special World is optional, but it is required for full 96-exit completion and is the game’s hardest challenge route.
